Renters are searching for larger spaces and more premium amenities in their next moves. According to RCKRBX, 46% of prospective residents will increase rent budgets for more open spaces and elevated offerings.
The inaugural National Renter Demand Indexing study found that nearly half of renters are either hybrid or fully remote. Fully remote workers were 13% of renters, while 25% of respondents are in the office three to four days per week, and 8% of residents work in the office one to two days. In office staff made up 54% of respondents.
Meanwhile, renters are searching for more space. Studios and one-bedrooms have a supply-demand imbalance with studio supply more than triple the demand and one-beds roughly double the demand. Two-bedroom/junior two-bedroom units have a 52% demand but a 39% unit supply. Similarly, three-bedroom units have a 23% demand but only an 8% supply.
More than 2,300 prospective renters were surveyed for the report.
