Basic Electrical Meters & Troubleshooting:
 
This 3-hour class is an introduction and overview of the most common types of
electrical meters and how to use them effectively in troubleshooting single components and electrical systems. Topics include: Types of meters, electrical safety, meter safety, voltage, current and resistance measurements and how they can contribute to effective basic troubleshooting.

Topics covered in this class will include:
  • The differences between voltage, current and resistance
  • Identify electrical symbols
  • Determine the difference between Series and Parallel circuits
  • Recognize the most commonly used meter functions
  • Select the correct meter for the identified testing and use it safely
  • Test for voltage, current, resistance and continuity
  • Test electrical components relating to Appliances, HVAC equipment and
    common electrical circuits


(Students should bring their own multi-meter to the class)
